Dear Glenbrook Families,
As we move through the heart of January, I want to take a moment to celebrate the energy and resilience we see in our students each day. This is the time of year when routines are stronger, learning is deepening, and our school community feels especially connected. Thank you for all the ways you support your children and our staff - it truly makes a difference.
At Glenbrook, we often remind students that growth happens in the middle, not just at the start or the finish. The middle of January is a perfect example of that. Even when the days feel long or the weather feels cold, our students keep showing up with curiosity, courage, and the willingness to try again. Their perseverance is inspiring, and so is yours.
One of my favourite reminders during seasons like this is the quote: “Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another.” — Walter Elliot
It beautifully reflects what we see in our students each day—small steps, repeated effort, and steady growth.
We are also incredibly grateful for the continued support of our Glenbrook Playground Fundraising Campaign. A new playground will be an incredible gift to our students: a place for active play, imagination, friendship, and belonging. Every donation, volunteer hour, and idea shared brings us one step closer to creating a vibrant and inclusive space for current and future Glenbrook learners. Thank you for believing in this vision with us. A special thank you to Michelle Ibbotson for leading this work along with Jane Leopatra, our former School Council chairperson.
As we look ahead to the rest of the month, we encourage families to keep finding moments of joy - whether it’s reading together, enjoying the winter sunshine and warm weather we have been having, or celebrating small accomplishments. These small moments build big memories, and they fuel our shared sense of hope and community.
Thank you for being such an essential part of the Glenbrook family. Together, we continue to build a school where every child can grow, explore, and shine.
Warm regards,
Cindy & Tracey

Playground Project Update
We would like to share some incredible news regarding our playground redevelopment project. We have recently been awarded a $125,000 Government of Alberta Community Facility Enhancement Program Grant to put toward our playground redevelopment project!
We are overjoyed to hear we are one of the lucky recipients of this grant, which brings us so close to our $400,000 goal. To date, this marks us at approximately $306,000. We are just $94,000 shy of our project's goal - we are well on our way to seeing this vision turn into reality!
We appreciate all of the continued support from Glenbrook school families, students and our community! If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to share ideas to help us reach our goals even sooner, please do not hesitate to reach out to the parent council at glenbrookpc@gmail.com.
You can keep up to date on fundrasing progress on the Glenbrook School's website on the Playground Project page:https://glenbrook.cbe.ab.ca/playground-project
School Council Meeting
Our next parent council meeting is on Monday, January 19 at 7:00 PM. We will be meeting virtually so if you are interested in learning more about your school, helping with upcoming fundraisers or the playground committee, the council meetings are a great way to get involved. We hope to see you there!
Healthy Hunger
Our next Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch is Domino’s Pizza on January 28. Order cut off date is Friday, January 23.
Healthy Hunger is an easy online fundraising program that lets parents order special hot lunches and treats for their children while supporting our school.
