Hello Glenbrook Families,

As we head into the week ahead, let's nurture not only our minds but also our spirits, fostering an environment where kindness, curiosity, and creativity bloom. Whether it's through a captivating lesson, a supportive word, or a simple gesture of appreciation, let's sprinkle positivity and encouragement wherever we go.

We have the chance to choose kindness and give grace to others and ourselves. Remember, each day is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those around us. Let's seize it with joy and enthusiasm, knowing that our collective efforts contribute to a brighter, more vibrant community. One person can make a difference and that person could be you, you have the choice to make each day.

Remember to take care of yourself so you can show up for yourself and others.

Take care everyone,

Cindy

Inspiration

"You never know what someone is going through – kindness matters!”

“Weekly Wonder”

We all have the choice to be mindful of what others are going through. It is often not until we hear someone’s story that we are made aware of the road they are travelling on and the obstacles they may be facing. One small act of kindness can make a huge impact. Giving grace, choosing kindness is always an option. How will you choose kindness and grace this week?

Connection Corner

  • Thank you to all of our volunteers who will be joining us for all the amazing off-site learning experiences our staff have been planning for our students – we are grateful for you.
  • Without parent volunteers, trips may need to be cancelled as we must follow the correct CBE ratio for student safety when off-site from the school.
  • Mrs. Bombard is still away and this week we have Mrs. Sigurdson helping us in the office as the Acting Assistant Principal.

Planning for Next Year

In May, we will begin the process of creating class lists for next year. As a staff, we spend a great deal of time preparing these lists to create optimal learning environments to ensure success for each student. The following criteria go into our processes:

  • Attention to the complexities of learning needs of specific students and as a group
  • Academic, social and emotional needs of students
  • Matching of teacher skill set with student need
  • Keeping students with complimentary classmates / friends;

Given the complexities detailed above, it is not possible for parents to request specific teachers. In addition to this, teachers may apply for positions outside of Glenbrook School or may not teach the same grade next school year with our flux of enrolment.  We believe our personalized processes allow us to make the best decision for your child. Should you have additional information regarding your child’s learning needs that you would like us to consider when creating class lists, please email Mrs. Palmer no later than May 10 detailing this specific information.

School Procedures

All students must have indoor shoes for school to ensure gym safety and school cleanliness. Right now, we are noticing that many children are wearing one pair of shoes both inside and outside and as a result our school is becoming very messy with mud. We require you to send indoor shoes with your child and reinforce the importance of wearing clean shoes inside the school.  We will be doing the same at school and reminding students of the expectations.

School Clothing Orders

Great news! If you ordered any school gear with our new logo, it will be arriving sometime this week. We can't wait to see everyone sporting the new gear!!

Check out our online store!

Fun Lunch

Our next fun lunch is Subway on Thursday, May 16. Parents/guardians must go to www.healthyhunger.ca to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, May 11. Students who have not purchased online will not be receiving a fun lunch. If your student is not in attendance on the day of Fun Lunch you can call the school office to make an arrangement for pick up. If they do not hear from you they will donate the lunch.

Spring Fling Family Dance

Thank you so much for making the spring fling family dance a huge success! We had approximately 300 people attend the event and can’t wait to do it again next year! A special thank you to our sponsors Brokin Yolk, Primal Grounds, Trinity Hills Eyecare and Laser City South for providing  wonderful door prizes! A huge thank you to Candy Man Cory for the delicious cotton candy and other treats, and David from Monarch Music for spinning tunes all evening.
