Hello Glenbrook Families!

As the days grow longer and the weather warms up, there's an unmistakable energy in the air.

Spring has officially arrived and with it comes a new excitement as we begin to count down the final weeks of the school year. It’s a wonderful time to celebrate how much our students have grown – academically, socially and emotionally.

The sunshine and fresh air offer perfect opportunities for continued learning outside of the classroom. Whether t’s practicing math skills by measuring in the garden, observing science in nature, or getting lost in a good book under a shady tree, warmer weather invites creativity and exploration beyond school walls.

This season is also a time of transition. We reflect on the memories we’ve made and the accomplishments we’ve achieved while setting our sights on the adventures that lie ahead.

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Let’s make these last weeks together a truly special end to the 2024-2025 school year.

Warm regards,

Cindy & Tracey

Updates and Administrivia

Bussing and Transportation Changes for Next Year

For the 2025-2026 school year, the CBE will be expanding yellow bus service and adjusting walk zones. This is in response to School Transportation Amendment Regulation for student transportation that comes into effect on Sept. 1, 2025. It is the provincial government's intent to increase the number of students who can access transportation by changing the transportation eligibility distance and how the distance is measured.

When changes are made to yellow bus transportation, it has an impact on bell times for schools. That’s because bell times are directly connected to transportation. Aligning bell times across schools makes transportation more efficient, allowing each bus to run multiple routes. This creates a reliable transportation system, ensuring students get to school safely, on time and ready to learn.

For the 2025 –2026 school year, the bell times at Glenbrook School will be Monday to Thursday 9:15 AM - 3:53 PM.  Friday early dismissal will be 12:53 PM

Performance Thursday, May 1

On Thursday, May1, through the support of our School Council and Parent Society, students will engage in a performance by Mary Lambert. The topics Kindness and Bullying are explored in this very creative musical performance, with discussion and interactive music. Kindness, inclusion, respect, responsibility, friendship, talents, and our uniqueness as individuals are promoted through original and popular music.

School Council Message

Meeting

The meeting that was initially scheduled for April 23, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 30 at 7:00 PM. School council meetings are more than just administrative gatherings—they’re a way for parents to make a tangible difference in the school environment and, ultimately, in their child’s educational experience, so we encourage all parents and guardians to attend!

Fun lunch

Our next fun lunch is Subway on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Parents/guardians must go to https://healthyhunger.ca/ to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, May 10, 2025.  Students who have not purchased online will not be receiving a fun lunch.  If your student is not in attendance on the day of Fun Lunch you can call the school office to arrange for pick up or let the school know if they can donate the lunch.

All fun lunches for the school year are now set up on Healthy Hunger.  You can order one at a time, a few at a time, or for the whole year!

Volunteer Opportunity

Making fun lunches happen is a team effort, and we need your help! Volunteering to hand out lunches takes just one hour of your time, yet it makes a big difference for our students and staff. If you’re available, we’d love for you to join us in creating a smooth and enjoyable lunch experience. It’s a simple way to contribute and connect with our school community.

Playground Rebuild Project Update

We have two parent volunteers working hard behind the scenes applying for grants and sponsorships to help us reach our goal of $400,000 to build our new playground. We have not secured any funding yet but are hopeful that we will be selected for a number of grants and sponsorships. If you know of any corporate sponsorship opportunities, please contact Michelle or Jane at glenbrookpc@gmail.com with the information. If you would like to help with grant writing or sponsorship applications, please feel free to reach out!

Amazon Teacher Wish List

Our teachers work tirelessly to provide the best education and care for our children, often going above and beyond to ensure their classrooms are inspiring and equipped for learning. To support their incredible efforts, Glenbrook Parent Council has created an Amazon wishlist featuring items that will directly benefit their classrooms.

It's easy to help! Simply visit the wishlist, select the items you'd like to contribute, and have them sent directly to the school. Your generosity will make a big difference in fostering a positive and resourceful learning environment for our students.
