Hello Glenbrook Families!

“Kindness is like snow; it beautifies everything it covers.” K. Gibran

I am inspired this week by this quote. Maybe it is the snow that we have had this week, or the fact that we have had so many days of bone chilling cold, but the image of kindness like a blanket of snow seems so comforting. Imagine if we all approached each other and everything we do with this in mind, we could have such a positive impact on so many. As educators, we work to wrap the students in metaphorical blankets of kindness, caring, empathy and all things that will help them to be mindful of others, grateful for what they have in the moment and to be positive and in turn kind to others. Like the snow that beautifies as it covers, kindness too can beautify each of us. We strive to nurture hearts as much as minds and work to create a group of children who can make a difference in our school, their community and the larger world context someday. Empathy, kindness, and compassion, these are the qualities that we foster in our students every day, and they are the same values that help strengthen our own connections as a team.

As educators, we have the unique privilege of creating a space where kindness and understanding are not only encouraged but celebrated. This was so evident today as we walked through the hallways and were greeted by, “Happy Valentine’s” last week and by the students who sought us out to deliver valentine cards, many of them with personalized messages inside and filled with care. We are so glad that you are on this journey alongside us and we are grateful for the partnerships we have with all of our Glenbrook families

This week we welcomed back Mrs. Jami Miskowski who will be taking her position as the Grade 1/2 teacher in Room 27.

Wednesday, February 26 | Pink Shirt Day

Please join us by wearing a PINK shirt!  The focus of this day is to remind students of the importance of working together and treating others with dignity and respect.

Students each created their own pink shirt to share messages of kindness.  Shirts were then added to our Kindness Tree displayed in the main hallway for all to see.

Scholastic Book Fair

We are excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from Monday March 17 to Friday March 21.

The Scholastic Book Fair empowers our students to choose books they love, and with so many options, they’re sure to find themselves in the pages. This year’s Fair is going to be amazing, but we need volunteers to make it happen. We hope that you can offer your time to help... and since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding.

If you’re available to lend a hand at this upcoming event, please contact Raylene Montgomery, Library Assistant at ramontgomery@cbe.ab.ca.  Please share which shifts you are available for and how many you are able to do.

In the fundraising society meeting, we will hear an update on the playground redevelopment and upcoming fundraisers and events.

This is a wonderful opportunity for you to stay informed, ask questions, and share your thoughts about how we can continue to make our school an even better place for our children. We encourage all parents and guardians to attend, as your involvement plays a crucial role in shaping the direction of our school community. Your perspective and voice are invaluable, and we look forward to seeing you there! Please email glenbrookpc@gmail.com and we will send you the link to join!
