Hello Glenbrook Families,
Can you believe that we are in March already? We are all looking forward to spring and all the changes and warmer weather it will bring. This will be an exciting month ahead. We hope you take time to get out into that amazing sunshine this weekend!
Inspiration
""Look for something positive in each day, even if some days you have to look a little
harder.” - Unknown
“Weekly Wonder”
What will you look for and how will you find the motivation to look deeper on those harder days? February was Heart Month and Glenbrook School is taking part in Jump Rope for Heart this year. Students are being challenged to jump for 6000 minutes and will earn a jersey day as their reward. Jump Rope for Heart encourages kids to have a positive attitude towards exercise, healthy eating, and heart health while raising vital funds to fight heart disease.
Students earned a Jersey day for reaching the 6000 minutes. Way to go Grizzlies!

TELUS Be Brave Event
We would like to send out a big THANK YOU to all of the Grade 5/6 Leaders that participated in the 2024 TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying Game with the Calgary Hitmen!
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024 the Calgary Hitmen welcomed over 12,000 students, teachers and chaperones to the Scotiabank Saddledome to celebrate Pink Shirt Day. To top it all off, the Hitmen prevailed in an exciting 6-3 win! It was an amazing experience for our students. Go Hitman Go!
Scholastic Book Fair
We are excited to announce that our school will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair, which will take place from Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22.
The Scholastic Book Fair empowers our students to choose books they love, and with so many options, they’re sure to find themselves in the pages. This year’s Fair is going to be epic, but we need volunteers to make it happen. We hope that you can offer your time and talents to help students become bolder, prouder, and stronger readers—which in turn makes them bolder, prouder, and stronger individuals. And since every purchase benefits our school, helping is twice as rewarding.
If you’re available to lend a hand at this upcoming event, please contact Raylene Montgomery, School Library Assistant at ramontgomery@cbe.ab.ca. Please share which shifts you are available for and how many you can do.

School Council
Thank you to everyone who volunteered for our casino in November. We received $80843.73 from those two days for our students! Woohoo! Our next casino will be in Q4 of 2025.
Fun lunch
Our next fun lunch is Subway on Thursday, March 21. Parents/guardians must go to www.healthyhunger.ca to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, March 16. Students who have not purchased online will not be receiving a fun lunch. If your student is not in attendance on the day of Fun Lunch you can call the school office to make an arrangement for pick up. If they do not hear from you they will donate the lunch.
Meeting
Please join us for our next School Council and Fundraising Society meetings on Tuesday March 19 at 7:00 pm. at the school. We always hear an update from Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Bombard as well as discuss upcoming events at the school, how to use our fundraising dollars, and other happenings at Glenbrook School. These meetings are where parents can share their ideas and opinions and everyone is welcome!
