Glenbrook Growler Jan. 15-19 | Opportunity, Literacy Resources, Kindergarten, Be Brave, Fun Lunch, School Council Meeting
Our Week at a Glance email is sent out once a week with the intent to provide you with the most up to date information with what is happening at Glenbrook School.
Hello Glenbrook Families,
Welcome to 2024! Winter has returned in full force this week with the frigid temperatures and much more snow. We hope you approach the new year with resolve and find the opportunities hidden in each day. A new year is a beautiful opportunity to start fresh and shift mindsets. There are so many opportunities for us all ahead in 2024.
We finished our Seven Sacred Teachings work on Courage/Bravery and we have displayed some of the beautiful work. Some students researched people who have shown courage and other classes said the different ways that they are brave in our school. During the month of January, we will be continuing with our Seven Sacred Teachings focused on Humility.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Cindy Palmer

Kindergarten Registration Opens Monday January 15, 2024
Glenbrook School has both an AM and a PM Kindergarten class. Times will be TBD for next year and announced when this decision takes place. This year the times for our Kindergarten program are:
Monday – Friday - AM: 9:00 – 12:00 PM Monday – Friday - PM: 12:50 – 3:50 PM
When registering for Kindergarten; parents will state their preference for either AM or PM Kindergarten class that they hope to register their child in when they complete the registration forms. We will do our best to accommodate everyone's wishes. However, a random draw, that is both fair and equitable, will take place to fill any vacant spots in either the AM or PM class, whichever has the most spaces remaining to a max class size. This class size will be determined following the processing of registrations. Our Kindergarten open house will be announced at a later date.
All registered students will receive confirmation of these details.
If your child is attending the Maple Roots Before & After School program, please email the general email inbox to indicate this at glenbrook@cbe.ab.ca.

Telus Be Brave Event
Our school has the opportunity to send 20 Grade 5/6 students who show leadership at Glenbrook School to the Telus Be Brave Event on February 28. The Calgary Hitmen will host the Edmonton Oil Kings and their will be over 10, 000 students in attendance to learn about the importance of acceptance and kindness from guest speakers, concourse displays and in-game activities. We will only have 20 tickets (which include a t-shirt for the event) so interested Grade 5 and 6 students will need to submit a written letter to Mrs. Bombard and Mrs. Palmer explaining how they are a leader at Glenbrook School and how they will use this event to continue to show leadership and kindness at Glenbrook School. These letters need to be submitted by Friday, February 2, 2024 and we will read all of them over and choose the top 20. Successful students will be notified by Friday, February 9 that they will be attending the event. The event will be during school hours on Wednesday, February 28 and a fieldtrip form will go home on February 9 to the 20 students.
