Hello Glenbrook Families

On Friday, Glenbrook School in partnership with City of Calgary hosted its first Commun-I-Tea. The event was a vibrant celebration of culture, resilience, and community that featured traditional dance performances and stories of resilience shared by Indigenous community members, offering powerful insights into lived experiences and cultural strength. All in attendance enjoyed student artwork that reflected identity, heritage, and courage, while sharing delicious food and engaging in thoughtful conversations that fostered connection and understanding among students, families, educators, and community members. Thank you to our Indigenous Families and Students that made this event a success.

Inspiration

Spring! The trees have popped with flowers; the grass is green, and the birds are nesting-the days are longer, and the skies seem bluer. The long weekend is upon us and offers us time to relax and reconnect.”

Weekly Wonder

How will you relax and reconnect this weekend?

IMPORTANT! Transportation Registration for the 2025-2025 School Year

Yellow school bus service levels and proposed fees for the 2025-2026 school year have now been posted. The cost will be $360/student or $180 for kindergarten students.

What you need to know:

  • Registration is available by logging into your MyCBE parent account and clicking on the Fees, Waivers and Service Registration tile.
  • Families must register by Sunday, June 22 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
  • Transportation will continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

We encourage all families to register by the deadline if they think they will use yellow school bus transportation this fall. You can cancel before the end of September with no financial penalty. More Information: Register Now for Yellow School Bus Service

School Council Message

Meeting

Thank you to everyone who came to our last school council meeting! It's always great to see new faces. Our last meeting of the school year will be on June 16 at 7:00 pm and all parents and guardians are encouraged to attend!

Fun lunch

Our next fun lunch is A&W on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Parents/guardians must go to https://healthyhunger.ca/ to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, June 14, 2025.  Students who have not purchased online will not be receiving a fun lunch.  If your student is not in attendance on the day of Fun Lunch you can call the school office to arrange for pick up or let the school know if they can donate the lunch.

All fun lunches for the school year are now set up on Healthy Hunger.  You can order one at a time, a few at a time, or for the whole year!

Volunteer Opportunity

Making fun lunches happen is a team effort, and we need your help! Volunteering to hand out lunches takes just one hour of your time, yet it makes a big difference for our students and staff. If you’re available, we’d love for you to join us in creating a smooth and enjoyable lunch experience. It’s a simple way to contribute and connect with our school community.

Playground Rebuild Project Update

We have two parent volunteers working hard behind the scenes applying for grants and sponsorships to help us reach our goal of $400,000 to build our new playground. We have not secured any funding yet but are hopeful that we will be selected for a number of grants and sponsorships. If you know of any corporate sponsorship opportunities, please contact Michelle or Jane at glenbrookpc@gmail.com with the information. If you would like to help with grant writing or sponsorship applications, please feel free to reach out!

Bottle Drive

Thank you to everyone who dropped off their refundables for our bottle drive on Friday. We raised over $500 for our playground rebuild project!

Amazon Teacher Wish List

Our teachers work tirelessly to provide the best education and care for our children, often going above and beyond to ensure their classrooms are inspiring and equipped for learning. To support their incredible efforts, Glenbrook School Council has created an Amazon wish list featuring items that will directly benefit their classrooms.

It's easy to help! Simply visit the wish list, select the items you'd like to contribute, and have them sent directly to the school. Your generosity will make a big difference in fostering a positive and resourceful learning environment for our students.
