Hello Glenbrook Families,
September... the month where we start school, get back into routines and time seems to fly. With the cooler weather and the shortening days, it feels like Fall is on its way. The school year is filled with the beginnings of last week, the firsts of this week and many more adventures to come. As the new school year has begun, it is such an opportunity for us all to ‘start fresh’ and be the best version of ourselves for ourselves.
Once again, thank you for your continued support every day!
Take care,
Cindy & Tracey
Inspiration - The Future of the World is in Our Classrooms Today
Weekly Wonder
The possibilities and opportunities for the future are boundless. While we may not know what the future holds for our students, we do know that they are the ones that hold the future in their hands...we can’t wait to see what they will do with it. How will you guide your children and help them to reveal the possibilities?
Updates and Administrivia
Parking
Thank you to all our families who have been parking in designated areas, using the crosswalks to cross and helping keep our students safe as they walk to and from school. We appreciate your support, and we have noticed that there has been a lot more safety for students each morning! Please remember that the school parking lot is for staff only and parents should not be parking there at any time.
Nut Aware School
Glenbrook School has many students with severe allergies to nuts and nut products. We appreciate that you do not send nuts and or nut products to school with your children. Thank you for your support with this.
Orange shirt Day - September 26
Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt on Thursday, September 26 to show their support for truth and reconciliation and to build a sense of belonging and connection. Orange Shirt Day is on September 30 annually. It began in 2013 when residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at residential school. It is also an opportunity to commit to commemorating the children who attended residential schools, recognizing their experiences, honoring them and sharing a collective commitment to ensure that every child matters and that each student is welcome, safe, respected and cared for in their learning community every day.
Meet the Teacher Evening
On Thursday, September 26 we will hold a meet the teacher evening. Parents are invited to attend one session with their child's teacher. Session 1 from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM OR Session 2 at 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM. In addition to this, teachers will set up individual meetings with students on Individual Program Plans to discuss goals for their child this school year.

School council meetings are a great way to hear the latest updates from the principal and share ideas with other parents. Everyone is welcome and we always love to have new people come out! We have a vacancy for Vice Chair and Secretary open this year. If you are interested in taking on one of these roles, please contact Jane at glenbrookpc@gmail.com or come to our meeting to find out more! Elections will be held at Monday’s meeting.

Our next fun lunch is from the Pita Pit on Thursday, September 19. Parents/guardians must go to: www.healthyhunger.ca to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, September 14.
