I'd like to take a moment to thank all of our families for an amazing start up! We have been able to jump into building relationships and developing learning routines easily and your support has made such a smooth transition for us all. Your commitment to our school and community helps us all create a nurturing learning environment.

Remember, it’s not the day but the attitude with which we approach it that defines our experience.

Once again, thank you for your continued support every day!

Take care,

Cindy & Tracey

Inspiration

Hello Glenbrook Families! As we wrap up our second full week of the school year, we want

Weekly Wonder

How will you carry this optimism and continue to inspire students with hope and confidence?

Demographic Verification Forms and Annual Authorization Forms

All forms must be completed through your MyCBE account--> School Engage. Forms are Due to be completed September 20.

Parking

Thank you to all our families who have been parking in designated areas, using the crosswalks to cross and helping keep our students safe as they walk to and from school. We appreciate your support, and we have noticed that there has been a lot more safety for students each morning!  Please remember that the school parking lot is for staff only and parents should not be parking there at any time.

Reminders | Allergies

With nutrition guidelines and unknown allergens, we will not support students bringing treats for other students at school this school year. Glenbrook School has many students with severe allergies to nuts and nut products. We appreciate that you do not send nuts and or nut products to school with your children. Thank you for your support with this.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday evening!

Bookings will open on Monday September 23.

School Council Info

We had our first council meeting of the year on Monday and unfortunately had a very low turnout so we were unable to vote for our new executive positions. For now, Jane will continue on as Chair, Nicole will continue as Treasurer, and Joanne M. has generously offered to step in as acting secretary until we are able to officially vote. School Council and the Society, which are made up of a group of volunteer parents, play a vital role in enriching the experience of Glenbrook School students. Last year alone we spent over $40,000 on residencies, field trips, staff appreciation, student appreciation and technology, among other things. We cannot continue to support our students without the involvement of more parents!

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at 7:00pm and as always, all parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. We have a few positions that need to be filled, such as playground committee chair, casino coordinator and vice chair. There is no obligation to take on one of these roles, you can just come and listen! If you would like to get involved but are unable to attend the meeting, please contact us at glenbrokpc@gmail.com

Our next big project is building a new playground, as our current playground has reached the end of its life. A new playground will cost us approximately $300,000. This is money that needs to be raised by parents through fundraising and grants. The CBE will tear down our existing playground whether or not we are ready to build a new one. If you have any corporate donor connections or experience with grant writing, PLEASE reach out!

Fun Lunch

Thank you to the grade 5 and 6 helpers with this week's Pita Pit lunch. Our next fun lunch is Subway on Thursday, October 17. Parents/guardians must go to www.healthyhunger.ca to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, October 12th. Students who have not purchased online will not be receiving a fun lunch. If your student is not in attendance on the day of Fun Lunch you can call the school office to arrange for pick up. If they do not hear from you, they will donate the lunch.

All fun lunches for the school year are now set up on Healthy Hunger. You can order one at a time, a few at a time, or for the whole year! Please note that December's fun lunch will be on the third Wednesday of the month (18th) rather than the normal Thursday.

Back to School Event

Please join us on Thursday, September 26 for our annual Back to School Food Truck event! We have Wonton Ninjas, Happy Fish Truck and BBQ Bob confirmed to attend. We also have the Cotton Candy Man selling freshly spun cotton candy. He was a huge hit at our family dance last year! Families can purchase food from the food trucks or bring their own food to eat outside at the tables we will have set up. Abundant Life Church has generously sponsored our event by providing FREE popcorn, games and face painting!
