Hello Glenbrook Families!
As we plan and prepare for our upcoming school week, we want to take a moment to reflect on the changes around us. Just as the vibrant colors of fall emerge from the fading warmth of summer, we too have the opportunity to grow and strengthen our connections with families. Last week’s meet the teacher conferences & food truck event are both such a great opportunity for us to learn about our students, their families as well as to make some amazing yearlong connections with new families.
Family / School connections really do make such a huge impact on the day-to-day work with students, and we appreciate that you take the time to foster and build these relationships with us as we continue to build our school community at Glenbrook School.
As we head into the Fall Equinox, let’s embrace this transition as we continue to work together and make Glenbrook a great place to be and learn!

Nations Vision Clinic
Our school has welcomed Nation’s Vision back to provide eye exams for our students. Annual eye exams are provided to children who have not yet accessed eyecare in the community or for the children of parents who find it difficult to access eyecare in the community.
They will be here for the week of October 1 to 4 and then will provide follow-up to anyone who needs it.
School Events
Orange Shirt Day
Glenbrook School held an Orange Shirt Day Assembly where we had students read the book “Every Child Matters’ by Phyllis Webstad and Karlene Harvey.
Students read personal reflections called “I Matter because....you matter because...” and then as a school we created a tree with our reflections written on leaves.
School Council Message
Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with council members at our back to school event on Thursday evening.
School Council and the Society, which are made up of a group of volunteer parents, play a vital role in enriching the experience of Glenbrook School students. Last year alone we spent over $40,000 on residencies, field trips, staff appreciation, student appreciation and technology, among other things. We cannot continue to support our students without the involvement of more parents!
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15 at 7:00 PM and as always, all parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. We have a few positions that need to be filled, such as playground committee chair, casino coordinator and vice chair. There is no obligation to take on one of these roles, you can just come and listen! If you would like to get involved but are unable to attend the meeting, please contact us at glenbrokpc@gmail.com
Our next big project is building a new playground, as our current playground has reached the end of its life. A new playground will cost us approximately $300,000. This is money that needs to be raised by parents through fundraising and grants. The CBE will tear down our existing playground whether or not we are ready to build a new one. If you have any corporate donor connections or experience with grant writing, PLEASE reach out!
Fun Lunch
Our next fun lunch is Subway on Thursday, October 17. Parents/guardians must go to Healthy Hunger's website to purchase your child’s lunch by Saturday, October 12. Students who have not purchased online will not be receiving a fun lunch. If your student is not in attendance on the day of Fun Lunch you can call the school office to arrange for pick up. If they do not hear from you, they will donate the lunch.
All fun lunches for the school year are now set up on Healthy Hunger. You can order one at a time, a few at a time, or for the whole year! Please note that December's fun lunch will be on the third Wednesday of the month (18) rather than the normal Thursday.
