Hello Glenbrook Families!
Welcome back to all our families for the 2025 - 2026 school year! I hope each of you had the opportunity to rest, recharge and prepare for our work together. The first week has been going well and has been very busy adjusting to new times and longer days for some students. Our goal is to help each of one of our students achieve and thrive, and there is only one way we can achieve it. There is so much power in our collective wisdom, strength and dedication. It is when we harness that collective strength that great things happen – for an individual student and for our school.
Please send an email to glenbrook@cbe.ab.ca if your plans have changed and you will no longer be starting school here or you have moved over the summer.
The start of a new school year is always an exciting and sometimes challenging time. Routine and regular schedules are great to have in place, getting back into them can sometimes be a challenge. We understand that there are many feelings for both students and parents alike when it comes to the start of a new school year. Whether it is your first time with a child in school or you are well versed in the September start up, it can bring a lot of emotions. Our staff is ready and it has been a great first week of school at Glenbrook!
Once again, thank you for your continued support every day!
Take care,
Cindy & Tracey

Reminders
Footwear
Students must have two pairs of footwear at school each day. One of the pairs is for indoor use and the other for outdoor use. The indoor shoes should have non-marking soles that they could use in the Physical Education program. As snow, dirt and mud in our hallways and classrooms create a safety hazard, we ask that outdoor footwear be removed at the students’ entrance. Platform shoes, roller shoes, flip-flops, and soccer cleats, etc. are not acceptable for safety reasons as well as maintaining school cleanliness.
School Fees, Communication, Lunchroom, Transportation
Please Check / Create your MyCBE account. All parents must have a MyCBE account to access and pay fees, book school conferences, see report cards, etc.
This is also where you will register for Lunchroom.
Fees will be posted by the beginning of October 2025.
Please use the above link to register for Transportation.
When signing up for emails, note that we send weekly updates from classrooms and the school. If you are not registered for commercial email, you will not receive any information that involves financial transactions (fun lunch, fundraising, school events). Subscribe to School Messages
2025-2026 Calendar
The 2025-2026 Glenbrook school calendar has now been published on our school website calendar page. It contains an overview of all the key dates for the upcoming school year. It also has our school bell times and lunch times. Information on specific events such as Healthy Hunger, assemblies and field trips will be communicated to families as they are scheduled throughout the year.
School Supplies
Basic school supplies for all Glenbrook students will be supplied (pencils, notebooks, scissors, glue, etc.). Student supplies are purchased by the school and provided as part of your school fees. All students will have access to shared supplies in each classroom which are grade appropriate. Classroom teachers may send home lists of optional additional items once school begins in September. A reminder that items you will need to send with your child are:
- A backpack large enough to hold a large library book
- Indoor shoes (these will stay at school)
- Before and After School Students will require an additional indoor pair
- Water bottle
- Lunch bag/snack bag
Please label everything you send to school - First and Last name are important so we can ensure clothing is returned to your child.
School Council Message
The Glenbrook School Council is excited to support our school this year. Sadly, our longtime chair, Jane Leopatra has moved on as her child transitioned to junior high. We are so thankful for her many years of service to our school.
This year we will choose a new chair and assign other positions at our first school council meeting on Monday, September 15 at 7:00 pm at the school. We hope you can join us as this is a great time to hear directly from our principal and assistant principal, learn about future initiatives and help make a positive impact in our community school.
Our first event of the year is Meet The Teacher Night on Thursday, September 11 at 4:30 pm. To make this special event come together we need you! If you are available to help us set up and tear down for the event please email glenbrookpc@gmail.com.
This year one of our big goals is to raise enough funds to build our playground. Michelle Ibbotson is leading this initiative and successfully wrote a grant application to the Calgary Parks Foundation for $50,000. This is a good start to our initiative, but we still have more work to do and funds to raise.
If you are interested in helping out with fundraising initiatives and grant writing to help us reach our goal please contact us via email glenbrookfundraising@gmail.com.
Stay tuned for more information on our school lunch fundraiser program - Healthy Hunger. We will post the first lunch date in the coming weeks. If you have questions about the parent council or wish to volunteer please reach out via email we will be happy to connect with you.
