Dear Glenbrook Families;
As we head into the final stretch of May, it’s hard to believe that there is only one week left in the month. This time of year, always seems to move quickly, and our school continues to be filled with energy, growth, and achievement.
Over the coming week, students will be wrapping up key units, completing projects, and preparing for the busy final weeks of the school year in June. We encourage you to check in with your child about their learning, celebrate their progress, and support them in finishing strong.
Please keep an eye on upcoming events, important dates, and classroom communications as we move toward year-end activities. There is still much to look forward to!
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.
With appreciation,
Cindy & Diana
Early Years Assessments Grades 1,2 & 3
Students in Grades 1,2 and 3 who require additional support in literacy and numeracy based on previous screener results, will be writing these assessments from May 11 – 29. Alberta Education & Childcare collects information about literacy and numeracy screening assessments for all students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. Provincial assessment programs are meant to complement, not replace, day-to-day teacher observations and classroom assessment. Further information about screeners can be found in the General Information Bulletin – Literacy and Numeracy Screening found here AB ED Lit and Num
Provincial Achievement Exams
In May and June of this year Grade 6 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) in English Language Arts and Literature (ELAL), Mathematics, and Science. Grade 6 Social Studies PAT, based on optionally implemented new curriculum in the 2025-26 school year, will not be administered in 2025-26.
Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 6. These results can be used to improve learning opportunities for students.
Please ensure that you check updates from your child’s teacher on the classroom’s google classroom and our school website. The first PAT will be written on Monday, May 25.
