Glenbrook Growler School Newsletter March 6, 2026
Dear Glenbrook Families,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the early signs of spring. March is always an exciting month at Glenbrook School, filled with learning, community connection, and special activities that bring our students together in meaningful ways.
Your partnership and engagement play an essential role in supporting your child’s success. Classrooms are bustling with rich learning experiences this month. From writing books about love in Grade 1, fractured fairy tales in Grades 2 and 3, and inquiry science work to hands-on mathematics and problem-solving tasks, art projects and learning to use our new chomp saw, as well as using the makerspace items, our students are demonstrating curiosity, creativity, and growth every day. We are proud of their efforts and the pride they take in their learning.
We continue to work closely with our School Council on the planning for a future playground replacement. Thank you to all families who have participated in conversations, surveys, and fundraising efforts so far. We are almost there – we are $20 000 away from our $400 000 goal! Our raffle fundraiser for stuffies made $841, which will be donated to the playground fund.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support, kindness, and involvement in our school community. Glenbrook continues to be a warm and vibrant place because of our students and the families who surround them.
With appreciation,
Cindy& Diana 💙
School Council Stuffy Fundraiser
The fundraiser raffle is now over, and the winners of the draws are Charlene – Grade1; Noar, Grade 1 and Shay – grade 5.
Congratulations to these students and congratulations to all of the students who helped raise $841 for the new playground.
Math and Literacy Games
School Council has provided our school with a variety of math and literacy games. We have put them into bags, and we have put them into our library Catalogue. Mrs. Montgomery has been talking to all of the classes about these games and next week we will let students sign them out for a one-week loan. These games are intended to be played with families at home and a fun way to connect. If you would like a game, you could also send Mrs. Montgomery a message at ramontgomery@cbe.ab.ca. Please make sure all of the game's pieces and items are back in the bag before returning it back to the school.
Glenbrook School Spring Book Fair - Volunteers Needed
The Spring Book Fair is right around the corner and we need your help. Please use the sign up genius link below to let us know if you are available to volunteer one or more hours of your time on March 17 or 19 during school hours. School Conferences
Glenbrook School will be holding student-led conferences on the evening of Thursday, March 19 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Friday, March 20 from 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Kindergarten students will also have conferences during the day on March 19. Student-led conferences give students the opportunity to take an active role in sharing their learning with their families. Instead of a traditional teacher‑led meeting, students guide parents through their work, talk about their progress, and reflect on their goals. This format helps students build confidence, ownership, and accountability for their learning. Teachers are present to support and answer questions, but the focus is on the student’s voice and their learning journey. Bookings for conferences will be made available on Friday March 13 at 9:00 am
