Stay Informed:

Dear Glenbrook Families,

As we move further into the fall season, we are experiencing a wide range of weather conditions throughout the day. We encourage all students to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather, including warm jackets, hats, gloves, and appropriate footwear. Our students spend time outdoors for recess and learning activities whenever possible, and being prepared helps them stay comfortable, active, and ready to learn.

A reminder that layering clothing is often the best approach during this time of year, as mornings can be chilly while afternoons may be much warmer. Please also ensure that your child's outdoor clothing and personal items are clearly labeled.

Thank you for your support in helping our students arrive ready for a successful day of learning. We appreciate the partnership we share with our families in creating a safe, positive, and welcoming school environment for all.

Wishing all our Glenbrook families a wonderful week ahead.

Sincerely,
Diana & Cindy

Soft Entry

At Glenbrook School, we use a soft entry process to help students begin their day in a calm, positive, and organized manner. During soft entry, students are welcomed directly into the school and classrooms where they engage in purposeful learning activities and prepare for the day ahead. This approach supports student well-being, maximizes learning time, and helps create a smooth transition from home to school each morning.  Soft entry takes place prior to our school start time from 9:05 AM and 9:14 AM. School starts promptly at 9:15 AM where students engage in learning promptly at that time.

Halloween at Glenbrook School

For many families, Halloween is an exciting event.  At Glenbrook School students are invited to wear elementary school-appropriate costumes on Friday, October 30.

  • Please leave all weapons & scary masks at home.
  • Students will still participate in Phys Ed that day and all other learning activities, so parents, please ensure your child's costume permits this.
  • Please also leave specials props at home that may be forgotten at school and are needed for trick-or-treating on Saturday.
  • There will be no food sharing or parties of any kind that morning - please save all candy & special snacks for the weekend.

We look forward to celebrating students' creativity and excitement with those who choose to wear costumes. If you have any questions about that morning, please reach out to your child's teacher.

Provincial Screener Results for Students in Grades 1-5

Parents and guardians, please note that beginning this week, teachers will be sending home copies of your child's results from the mandated literacy & numeracy screeners completed by classroom teachers this fall. The Calgary Board of Education will be sharing information with parents through email on Monday, October 26th. Teachers will be sending home student results in an envelope with students in their backpacks. Teachers look forward to discussing the results of the screeners and your child's learning of the curricular outcomes learned thus far, at Parent Teacher Conferences in November. Note - Kindergarten students will be assessed in January, 2027.

Inside shoes

To help keep our school clean, safe, and comfortable for everyone, we ask that all students have both indoor shoes and outdoor shoes at school each day. Indoor shoes are important for physical education classes, classroom activities, and keeping our learning spaces clean during wet and muddy weather.  As the seasons change and outdoor conditions become wetter, having a separate pair of indoor shoes helps prevent slips, protects classroom floors, and ensures students are comfortable throughout the day.  Please take a moment to check with your child to ensure they have appropriate indoor shoes at school and weather-appropriate outdoor footwear for recess and outdoor learning activities.  Thank you for your support in helpiGrizzly Gearng us maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.

School Council Message

Hello Parents,

See our School Council information.

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent bottle drive, and congratulations to our $25 gift card winner! We hope to hold a few more bottle drives throughout the year, so please keep saving those bottles and cans for us!

Volunteer Coordinator Needed!

We're looking for a parent to take on the role of Volunteer Coordinator to help make our fundraising efforts run smoothly.

This person would work alongside our Fundraising Coordinator and Chair to organize volunteer sign-ups, connect willing parents with opportunities to help, and maintain a contact list of volunteers for upcoming events.

Could you help us fill this role? If you're organized, enjoy connecting with others, and can contribute some time throughout the year, we'd love to have you join the team!

Please reply to this email to express your interest or ask any questions. Even if you can't take on the coordinator role, we'd love to know if you're willing to volunteer occasionally at fundraising events.

Coming Soon!  Stay tuned for information about our upcoming popcorn and coffee fundraisers!

Thank you again for your generosity and continued support!
Warmly,
Keitha Ogbgu
