Dear Glenbrook Families,
What an incredible start to the school year! Our halls have once again been filled with smiling faces, excitement, and the energy that makes Glenbrook such a special place to learn and grow.
It has been wonderful to welcome both returning and new students and families to our school community. Throughout the week, students have been reconnecting with friends, meeting their teachers, establishing classroom routines, and diving into new learning opportunities. The enthusiasm and positive attitude they have shown have set the stage for a fantastic year ahead.
We would like to thank our families for helping make the transition back to school so smooth. Your support, encouragement, and partnership play an important role in student success, and we are grateful to be working together with you.
A special thank you goes to our dedicated staff, who have worked tirelessly to prepare welcoming learning environments and ensure every student feels safe, valued, and connected.
As we move forward, we look forward to building on the momentum of this first week, fostering meaningful relationships, celebrating achievements, and creating memorable learning experiences for all students.

Staffing Updates
This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants, and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes.
We are pleased to welcome additional new staff to our school for the 2026–2027 school year and our school community. This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from:
- Increased teacher attention
- Improved classroom learning environments
- Greater support for diverse learning needs

Playground Build Update
You all may have noticed our new playground has been built. However, it is still under construction. While we await safety inspections and final approval, our playground will remain closed. It will soon be open for everyone to enjoy.
Glenbrook School Council and Glenbrook School would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has participated in and supported our playground project.

Paint the Pavement Update
Glenbrook School was fortunate to receive a grant through Activate YYC to paint the sidewalk and pavement out front of the school to mark the parameters of the school bus zone.
Last school year, students in Grade 5 were given the opportunity to assist with the design, and the proposed design is a combination of their ideas. Students wanted to include the blue sky, green grass, and grizzly paws to represent our school mascot.
After getting the design on the ground, the blank pavement looks like mountains. It turned out beautifully and makes the front of our school very inviting for families and visitors.
Important: This painted area is a no parking zone, as on field trip days we may have multiple buses needing to park in this designated space.
Family and community volunteers assisted in cleaning the pavement, measuring and taping the design, and painting. It was a beautiful day outside, and our volunteers were an amazing help. We could not have done it without them.
